Rabbi Michael Ragozin
Rabbi Michael Ragozin began at Congregation Shirat Hayam in Swampscott, Massachusetts in July of 2015. He previously led Congregation Sha'are Shalom in Leesburg, Virginia for the prior six years. During his tenure membership increased by 32% and religious school enrollment by 80%. He strives to create an open, engaging and empowering environment, one that values diverse backgrounds, family structures, and observances and that promotes broad participation and leadership. He cherishes personal interactions – learning and praying together, performing mitzvot of kindness, playing basketball, or simply chatting.
Outside of the congregation in VA, Rabbi Michael was an active participant in Loudoun Interfaith BRIDGES, a board member of Hillel at George Mason University, and an On-Call Chaplain for Loudoun Hospital. Prior to becoming a rabbi, Rabbi Michael was a Teach For America corps member (teaching algebra in Baltimore, Maryland), worked as a technology consultant in Seattle, Washington, and was the Development Manager at the Seattle Jewish Film Festival.
