Leslie Lichter is the Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ).She has substantial experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds having launched, expanded and managed organizational programs and initiatives.
Prior to joining USCJ, Leslie was the Managing Director, Head of Marketing and Communications Division at UJA-Federation of New York, where the cross-functional team she shaped served as UJA’s internal agency. Leslie led the revitalization of UJA’s branding, messaging and visual identity. With responsibility for acquisition, retention and growth of the large “community segment” of the donor base, Leslie and her team drove new models for donor engagement and cultivation.
At UJA and at Director of Development at Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Leslie engaged a disciplined metrics-driven decision and planning approach she developed at her earlier corporate employers which included American Express, Citibank and Scholastic Publishing. As the holder of newly created roles at those companies, she honed entrepreneurial business disciplines and a proclivity to collaborate and partner with colleagues.
Leslie grew up at Temple Israel Center in White Plains. As a parent, she returned to raise her family in the same congregation, and served on both the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. Leslie earned a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Brown University and an M.B.A from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
